The Courthouse is a gem and worth your effort to visit. It is currently the home of the Chester Improvement Project. You must call ahead if you would like to visit. It is open 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and there is no admission fee. Donations to the Chester Historical Society are appreciated to help preserve this national treasure. This courthouse was the official court of what was originally Chester County, until 1789 when the county was split and Delaware County was created. The Courthouse remained the official court until the County seat moved to Media in 1850. The Chester Historical Society offers guided tours.
